We first became familiar with American-born/ German-raised winger Julian Green in 2014, when he was deciding where he’d play his international football at the tender age of 18. Signed to German Superpower Bayern Munich, many began noticing the high ceiling he was in possession of. During this spell he had several appearances with the German Youth National Squads and attracted the eyes of The United States Men’s National Team Manager and German National Team legend Jurgen Klinsmann. With both options on the table and the 2014 World Cup looming Green decided he’d play his Senior International Soccer with the American National Team. The decision would be what began the rollercoaster in what we now know as Green’s career.

While the hopes were high for a young Julian Green, in the 2014 World Cup held in Brazil, he only managed to see the field once late in the round of 16 game against Belgium. With only 16 minutes of action he managed to tally an impressive goal to give the Yanks their only goal of the game in a 2-1 defeat, which saw the national team to its exit out of the tournament. After the World Cup Green slowly fell out of favor with the national team. During this time he began making his way around the German Bundesliga 1 & 2, playing for clubs such as Hamburg SV, and VIB Stuttgart. Struggling for meaningful playing time throughout most of these spells, it seems as if Green has found a home with his current club Greuther Furth.

Currently, Green has his following hopeful for a return to glory. Joining Greuther Furth in 2017 in total he has 82 appearances and 17 goals. One of those goals earned Greuther Furth its promotion to the Bundesliga 1, for only the second time in the clubs 117 years in existence. Green has also been called back into the rotation with the US National Team earning a camp invite as the team prepares for the CONCACAF Nations League. Julian Green is still only 25 years of age with a lot of soccer left to play in his career. With his reemergence as a player he may find himself back on the field in the 2022 World Cup alongside the new national team talents Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, and more.
